ELECTRICITY COMMERCIALIZATION

GECELCA is a company that generates and commercializes electricity, committed to the timely and effective fulfillment of its customers’ requirements.

We buy and sell electricity in the wholesale market to serve commercial operations and end users.

The commercialization of electricity is based on current regulations and the procedures established by the company for their strict compliance. To this end, GECELCA S.A. E.S.P. considers the following guidelines for decision-making:

Periodically review the evolution of the country’s hydrological variables such as reserves and water contributions, as well as the overall expected hydrological conditions.

Understand the annual maintenance plan for GECELCA’s own and commercialized plants and estimate the energy available for sale to non-regulated customers and sector agents.

Inspect the construction and operation schedule of new generation projects to identify increases in the country’s installed capacity.

Monitor the evolution of the spot price in the wholesale energy market, as well as the projections made by the market administrator.

Monitor the market’s evolution concerning the prices and quantities of energy contracted by generating and marketing agents through the transactional mechanisms in place for the regulated market.

Analyze the market administrator’s reports on the behavior of contract prices and transactions in the energy market.

ELECTRICITY MARKETING TO SECTOR AGENTS

One of the most important segments of GECELCA S.A. E.S.P. is the marketing of its available electricity for sale to other sector agents, dedicated to the activity of generation and/or marketing of electricity to serve their market and/or cover exposure risks in the Electricity Market.

The sale of electricity can occur through public or private calls issued by sector agents or through direct contracting.

If you would like GECELCA S.A. E.S.P. to participate in any of these processes, you can contact us at the email address
comercial@gecelca.com.co. The costs associated with participating in these procurement mechanisms are fully assumed by GECELCA S.A. E.S.P.

ELECTRICITY MARKETING TO UNREGULATED USERS

At GECELCA S.A. E.S.P., we serve liberalized clients, both individuals and legal entities, with a maximum demand exceeding 0.1 MW or a minimum monthly consumption of 55 MWh per legalized installation, through electricity purchases at freely agreed prices.

To determine whether the consumption of installations complies with regulations, the power or energy demand is calculated as the average of the monthly billing, under normal operating conditions, measured at the individual delivery point over the last 6 months prior to the condition being met.

For these purposes, the demands or consumption of different legalized installations cannot be accumulated, whether they belong to a single user or several. The electricity sales activity is distinct from distribution, which is carried out by the network operator, responsible for delivering electricity to end users, utilizing the networks, and maintaining them.

SIGNIFICANT DEVIATIONS

From GECELCA, we inform you that Paragraph 5 of Article 1 of Resolution CREG 105 007 of 2024, which temporarily modifies Articles 37 and 38 of Resolution CREG 108 of 1997, states the following regarding investigations for significant deviations:

Paragraph 5. Public service providers must establish a database where users with seasonal consumption are identified and characterized. These correspond to those who show different consumption patterns during specific periods of the same year. In these cases, the company will not be required to conduct investigations for significant deviations as per the mechanism previously indicated unless the user requests it or the company deems it necessary.

The user may inform the public service company about their characterization as a user with seasonal consumption to be included in the database or to report changes in their consumption. For this purpose, the company will provide a form on its website where the user can register this update.

For this reason, the following form is available for users to declare seasonality.

Likewise, the resolution can be consulted at the following link:
